In good condition with minor cosmetic damage on some of the keys. This model retails around £4000 new but I'm selling for almost half that at £2200. I'm selling this as I want a more vintage sounding horn but this is a really beautiful sounding instrument with that distinctive Selmer sound. All in all, a very versatile instrument.1956 Selmer Mark VI Alto Saxophone (66, xxx). BUT it has that dependable old Yamaha build, action & tuning, plays fine top to bottom. There is a ligature and cap and it comes with a hard protective case which is in good condition. It has the warm vintage Selmer core but with the brighter partials boosted a little by the silver plate. Can't fault this sax in any way, it has been a great instrument for me and very versatile. and it has a bag at the front which you can use to put your notes and books etc. The instrument has been taken great care of and treated extremely well, immaculate condition. Plays really well indeed, reason for sale is to fund my next tenor. I had the insturment inspected today by Dawkes Music and they reported that no stripping down was required, regulation is required as are the replacement and reseating of 7 pads to get the instrument in a good playing condition. I don't have the technology or knowhow to attach photos, but for serious enquiries I can send some by post if required. Beautiful instrument, selling as no longer a keen player. It is a beautiful instrument and the case is also stunning in hard leather.

More photos can be sent on request, including specific details. This selmer has only been tried once in frustration and placed back in its case. Good playing condition, blowing very well from top to bottom. Some scratching and minor wearing to the silver plating but nothing unusual for a horn of this age. The sax has all very good pads, springs and corks and the action is perfect. It comes with an original portable case and it has two straps on one side which can be used to carry on your back. Also included is the neck strap, ligature, mouthpiece and cork grease that came with the instrument. Well looked after, with original Yamaha hard card also in good condition. 1 1/5 and 2 reed *1 stick of cork grease *2 neck straps *original yamaha hard case. Cork needs replacing at the mouthpiece, but in otherwise excellent condition.

Whilst other wind manufactures have issued serial numbers to their musical instruments in a consecutive chronological fashion, Yamaha appears to have issued their serial numbers in a less logical sequence.



I liked the K-series better, so I returned the clarinet back to my friend. ‘Selmer’. K-series from around 1927. New logo. Dating the K-series is only approxymate, as Selmer didn’t keep any records on the production. But we know they changed the logo in 1926. I have a Normandy 4 clarinet and can't find out how old it is and am wondering if anyone can give me an idea. The serial number is #A33929.
